TransCanada's Alaskan pipeline still targets U.S. market

The U.S. is still the target market of TransCanada and ExxonMobil's natural gas pipeline project in Alaska, despite Gov. Sean Parnell's remarks that he supports shipments of liquefied natural gas to Asia, said Russ Girling, president and CEO of TransCanada. Gas shippers indicated that they preferred transporting the fuel source to the continental U.S. instead of other countries, he said. "If shippers decide that ultimately they want to ship that gas to another market, we will adjust the project accordingly," Girling added.
