Melamine scandal puts spotlight on broader China food-safety issues

With the discovery of melamine in increasing numbers of food products in China, in addition to the presence of heavy metals such as lead and mercury, officials there say they are having trouble even keeping up with the strange additives in food, much less knowing what to test for. Following criticism from the U.N., China is considering a tougher food-safety law.
