GOP seizes control of House, gains seats in Senate

The Republican Party captured enough seats in the House to take control of the chamber, and it gained seats in the Senate, although Democrats will remain in control there. Across the country, Republicans made inroads in districts that were held by Democrats. The faltering economic recovery was seen as a major factor in the election.
