Republicans sweep to victory in the House, gain seats in the Senate

Republicans picked up at least 60 House seats in a resounding victory in midterm elections that gives them control of the House and a stronger position in the Senate. "We hope President Obama will now respect the will of the people, change course and to commit to making changes they are demanding," said soon-to-be speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio. In high-profile races, tea-party favorites Rand Paul in Kentucky, Mike Lee in Utah and Marco Rubio in Florida were all victorious, while Christine O'Donnell was soundly defeated in Delaware, and Majority Leader Harry Reid was triumphant over Sharron Angle in Nevada.
