Canada reinvents crude oil shipping through "pipeline on rails"

Canadian oil companies are increasingly tapping BNSF, Canadian National and Canadian Pacific to deliver crude oil across North America as pipelines are at capacity or have developed leaks. Railways have an advantage, "both in costs and flexibility," writes Bill Mann, and they can respond to needs in days rather than in the years it takes to build new pipelines.
