Groups issue guidelines for preventing heart disease

The American College of Cardiology Foundation and the American Heart Association released on Thursday their guidelines for the prevention of cardiovascular events. These guidelines, endorsed by the Preventive Cardiovascular Nurses Association, promote the use of comprehensive cardiac rehabilitation programs for all patients with a history of myocardial infarction, stroke, bypass surgery, heart-related chest pain or blockages in leg arteries.
