Legislators consider federal anti-bullying measures

Federal lawmakers are considering proposed anti-bullying legislation that would apply to all students and schools across the country, and could provide specific protections for students who are lesbian, bisexual, gay or transgender. One proposal by Sen. Al Franken, D-Minn., that contains specific LBGT protections could be wrapped into the rewrite of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, along with a proposal introduced by Sen. Robert Casey, D-Pa., and Sen. Mark Kirk, R-Ill., that would require schools to track and report all bullying.
