PET/CT-guided tomotherapy helps improve mesothelioma treatment

An Italian study that used PET/CT-guided tomotherapy found that patients with mesothelioma who were given an additional dose of radiotherapy showed a higher rate of median survival and relapse-free period for one year compared with those not given the additional therapy. More research should be undertaken to explore this method, which could serve as an alternative treatment for patients with mesothelioma who cannot undergo surgical resection, according to the study.
