Researcher criticizes messages sent by "The Biggest Loser"

NBC's "The Biggest Loser" promotes people losing a lot of weight in a short period of time, which is unrealistic and unhealthy, University of California, San Francisco, researcher Natalie Ingraham told an American Public Health Association meeting. She says the show stigmatizes overweight people, does not focus on healthy food choices, fails to follow up with past contestants and fosters unrealistic expectations about losing weight.
