Senate says no to 2 infrastructure bills

Two competing infrastructure bills were blocked by the Senate on Thursday. Senators voted 51-49 in favor of President Barack Obama's plan to invest $50 billion in highway, rail, transit and other infrastructure and another $10 billion to create an infrastructure bank -- but it needed 60 votes to proceed to full debate. They also voted against a Republican-backed plan to extend transportation funding by two years.
