Energy majors spend heavily on Canadian oil sands projects, experts say

Unstable prices for Canadian heavy crude, rising costs and accessibility issues haven't stopped several energy majors including Royal Dutch Shell and Total from investing heavily in Canada's oil sands, experts say. Shell is planning its Carmon Creek oil sands development project in Alberta, Canada, which is expected to produce 80,000 barrels per day.
