HHS exempts ACA exchanges from anti-kickback rules

New insurance offerings available on federal and state-run exchanges are not subject to the same anti-kickback standards as Medicare and other federal health programs, the Department of Health and Human Services confirmed in a letter to Rep. Jim McDermott, D-Wash. Drugmakers will be allowed to issue copayment cards to cover treatments' upfront costs for some patients.
