Termite-sniffing dog to root out invasive Fla. pest

Mixed-breed dog Connie is helping South Florida officials in their quest to eradicate the invasive conehead termite species. The termites eat everything in their path, including buildings, and if the spread isn't stopped, the damage could be "astronomical," according to scientist Barbara Thorne. Connie was rescued from a shelter and trained by J&K Canine Academy of High Springs to detect the termites.
