Iraqi texts contain large gaps in modern historical content

Last summer, a U.S.-appointed team of Iraqi educators editing Iraqi textbooks deleted references to Saddam, his Baath Party and material that was anti-American, anti-Israel or radically religious. Because the downsized books are missing entire sections on modern history, individual teachers are using their own judgment to decide what will be taught.
