New York City's construction plan relies heavily on state funding

New York City will open 76 new schools and incorporate wireless networking into all its schools, if Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg's ambitious five-year, $13.1 billion proposed education capital plan is implemented. The mayor wants the state to contribute $8.5 billion towards the plan to correct what he terms "grossly unfair pattern" of underfunding in the past.
