Stem cell proposition may usher in new era for California

Scientists in California are optimistic that the passage of that state's Proposition 71, which puts $3 billion toward stem cell research, will enable the state to become the leading center for stem cell research in the world. The funding is expected to accelerate stem cell research in the search for cures and treatments for diseases ranging from diabetes and Alzheimer's disease to Parkinson's disease and multiple sclerosis.
