An American Academy of Pediatrics' policy statement on guidelines for HIV prevention during pregnancy emphasizes universal HIV testing programs that have "opt out" or "right of refusal" options. The guidelines also recommend repeated HIV antibody testing during the third trimester for high-risk women.
