Ariens launches line of lower-cost snow throwers

Power equipment firm Ariens has unveiled a snow thrower with a plastic, rather than steel, chute. The Sno-Tek machines include an engine built in China, and prices will start at $499. "We are an American company, and we try to make our choices based on the supply chain and where components are coming from. But Sno-Tek allowed us to bring in a product in a difficult economy and to compete with other companies using the same type of engine," company president Dan Ariens said.
