Some young Australian students to begin learning Asian languages

Some Australian students will begin learning Asian languages as early as kindergarten through a new language programme. Mandarin, Korean, Japanese or Indonesian will be used for at least 90 minutes a day and in all lessons except English and maths. "Young children have a far better chance of developing bilingual fluency from an early age," said Education Minister Verity Firth.
