Feds' levee modeling needs more review, La. expert panel says

The engineering committee of the Southeast Louisiana Flood Protection Authority East is poised to urge the agency to hire a specialist to conduct additional review of the computer modeling used by the Army Corps of Engineers to improve the hurricane levee system in the region. "What I think is missing is that we don't have a person able to ... assure us that there's not a problem. It would give me more comfort to have our own person down in the weeds," said a regional commissioner.
