Rep. Spencer Bachus, R-Ala., is poised to succeed Rep. Barney Frank, D-Mass., as chairman of the powerful House Financial Services Committee, which could result in expanded purview for the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority. Bachus is a key supporter of a self-regulatory organization for advisers. Bachus previously proposed having FINRA oversee dually registered advisers.
