No clear heir seen in Oberstar's anti-merger campaign

Washington will lose one of its most outspoken opponents to airline mergers when Rep. James Oberstar, D-Minn., departs in January, and Brett Snyder reports there are no "other candidates ready to carry the torch on the merger issue, at least not yet." Oberstar was expected to fight the proposed Southwest-AirTran deal, as he had the previous Delta-Northwest and United-Continental mergers.
