U.S. factory orders were up 2.1% in September

New orders for factory goods increased 2.1% in September, according to the Commerce Department. Analysts had predicted a 1.6% gain for the month after a 0.5% drop in August. Excluding transportation orders, factory orders rose 0.4% in September after a 1.3% increase in August, the report added.
