Why acting like a cable network will help Netflix

Netflix has begun taking cues from the cable model by investing in original content to supplement its library of movies and TV series, and it should consider mimicking cable by selling ads, writes Brad Adgate, senior vice president of research for Horizon Media. "For years, cable networks have benefited from two revenue streams: subscriber fees and advertising dollars. Netflix should do the same," he writes.
