AAFP joins call for changes to Physician Payments Sunshine Act

The AAFP was among dozens of physician organizations signing a letter asking the CMS to remove medical textbooks and clinical journal article reprints and abstracts from reporting requirements in the Physician Payments Sunshine Act. The letter to HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said Congress intended to exclude the educational materials in reporting requirements and including them "will potentially harm patient care by impeding ongoing efforts to improve the quality of care through timely medical education."
