England prepares for mandate on computer-programming instruction

Beginning next year, every primary- and secondary-school student in England will learn computer programming -- making England the first country to mandate such lessons across the curriculum. Since the curriculum was announced in July, officials have been working with groups such as Codeacademy to create pilot programmes and provide resources for educators and students in schools across the country, though it is expected that more preparation and teacher training will be needed as the courses get underway.
