Scientists at the Max Planck Institute for the Structure and Dynamics of Matter in Hamburg, Germany, say they have completed two of the three steps necessary to make a terahertz laser with graphene. The last step is development of a laser cavity. A graphene-based terahertz laser would be useful in probing high-temperature superconductors, according to the scientists.
