Local couple turns around N.C. airport

Pilot Phil Edwards and his wife Mary say that when they took over the Columbus County Municipal Airport in Whiteville, N.C., the airport didn't have any fuel because the tanks were out of compliance. It only took the couple a few years to turn the airport around. They brought fuel back to the airport and charge less than many other regional airports, attracting pilots. Along with an upgraded the terminal and a friendly welcome, the airport is now a popular stopping point.
