Mich. students embrace diversity with multicultural potluck

Social studies teacher Mary Wood and her students at the da Vinci Institute in Summit, Township, Mich., invited the entire school to participate in Mix It Up at Lunch Day, a national program that encourages embracing cultural diversity. The program is in its fourth year at the school, where students shared Mexican tacos, Guatemalan tamales, Irish potato soup among other ethnic dishes and heard from speakers in person and via Skype. "Next year, I hope to Skype with someone from each continent," Wood said.
