Preconception counseling benefits teen girls with diabetes

Data on teenage girls with either type 1 or type 2 diabetes found those who received self-administered preconception counseling on family planning showed better retention of knowledge about preconception, were more willing to discuss their reproductive health with clinicians and exhibited greater abstinence during 12 months of follow-up than those who received standard care. The results appear in Diabetes Care.
