Research: U.S. oil boom could end sooner than expected

Research is raising the possibility that increased oil and gas production from hydraulic fracturing could play out long before the U.S. achieves energy independence. According to analyses presented at a Geological Society of America meeting in Denver, the flow of oil and gas from many of the wells that created America's energy boom is already falling.
