USDA revises standards on BSE to align with international community

The USDA issued a new rule on bovine spongiform encephalopathy that brings U.S. standards in line with those put in place by the World Organization for Animal Health. "Making these changes will further demonstrate to our trading partners our commitment to international standards and sound science, and we are hopeful it will help open new markets and remove remaining restrictions on U.S. products," said veterinarian John Clifford, deputy administrator and chief veterinary officer of the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service.
