What board directors do in their spare time

Diversity on the board of directors is of keen interest among researchers, but few look beyond demographics or gender to consider directors' personal interests, according to this post. Harvard University professor Boris Groysberg and researcher Deborah Bell surveyed more than 1,000 board members in 59 countries and found that "sports and fitness" and "arts, culture and design" are among the top pursuits in all four regions. "Travel" was listed in the top three in North America and Western Europe, while "philanthropy and community service" made the top ranks only in Asia.
