White House sets public comment period on social cost of carbon

The White House Office of Management and Budget will set a public comment period about the "social cost of carbon" as part of efforts to amend its most recent estimate released in May, said Howard Shelanski, head of the OMB's Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs. Regulators refer to the SCC to gauge the benefits of emissions-reduction policies. Numerous business groups have opposed the revised estimate.
