California teachers face repeal of tax cut

In an effort to close a budget gap, California legislators have suspended the Teacher Retention Tax Credit that reduced teachers' state income tax by $250 to $1,500, depending on seniority. The credit was aimed at retaining teachers, despite low wages compared with other professions.
