Utilities optimistic about funding for S.C. reactors

South Carolina Electric & Gas Co. and Santee Cooper are committed to finding the $9.8 billion they need to to build two, 1,117-megawatt reactors at the V.C. Summer Nuclear Station. "While we cannot predict the full impact of the current economic and financial crisis, we generally hold the view that the markets will eventually stabilize," says Jimmy Addison, CFO of SCE&G's parent SCANA.
