ExxonMobil, partners secure development of Iraq's West Qurna field

A group headed by ExxonMobil outbid rival companies to obtain initial rights for the development of Iraq's West Qurna field, which holds oil reserves estimated at 8.7 billion barrels. The agreement, which was forged in Baghdad, still requires clearance from Iraq's cabinet.
