Senate passes bill on jobless benefits, home-buyer tax credit

The Senate has passed a bill to extend unemployment benefits and the first-time home buyers' tax credit. The bill would allow those already on benefits to receive them for an additional 14 weeks. Those in high-unemployment states would get 20 weeks. The $8,000 home buyers' credit would be extended for six months, and a $6,500 credit would be available to homeowners who have lived in their house for at least five years and are moving.
