Infrastructure ages as construction workers stay jobless:

While much of the rest of the economy gains momentum, construction remains in the doldrums. Many newly elected lawmakers are pledging to cut taxes -- even while thousands of construction workers remain out of work and the nation's aging infrastructure isn't getting any younger. Len Toenjes, president of the Associated General Contractors of St. Louis, estimates 18% of some 30,000 construction trades workers locally are without jobs.
