Judge tells Interior to revisit polar bear's "threatened" listing

U.S. District Judge Emmet Sullivan told the Interior Department to reconsider its decision to list the polar bear only as a threatened species, suggesting that it may qualify as "endangered" under the Endangered Species Act. Such a listing could hinder the development of oil and natural gas projects in the Arctic near polar bear "critical habitats." Interior has until Dec. 23 to respond.
