Calzones make a comeback in New York City

Calzones are reappearing in New York City food joints in traditional fashion, stuffed with pepperoni and mozzarella, and non-conventional flavors such as s'mores or pickled kiwi. "I think the current [calzone] trend is a little bit relatable to a nostalgic food moment that chefs are trying to associate with," said Mitchell Davis, cookbook author and vice president of the James Beard Foundation. "People are rediscovering them, while some of these places never lost them."
