Fast-food chains have added more healthy side dishes and beverages to their children's menus in the past three years, but the industry still has a long way to go when it comes to marketing healthy foods to children, according to a study from the Yale Rudd Center. The industry is committed to offering children healthy choices, said Joy Dubost, nutrition director at the National Restaurant Association. "The industry has also led the way in advocating that nutrition information be made available to consumers in chain restaurants through a national menu labeling standard. Measures like this will help empower consumers when they dine out," Dubost says.
