DHS initiative to make cybersecurity framework "user-friendly," official says

The Department of Homeland Security is expected to release its own program for a cybersecurity framework to complement the guidelines developed by the National Institute of Standards and Technology. The DHS program will develop a more understandable framework that will be useful to critical infrastructure operators, and it will create goals and incentive schemes. "DHS has a responsibility to develop a program that ... will help make the framework user-friendly," said Suzanne Spaulding, DHS undersecretary for the National Protection and Programs Directorate.
