HIV and AIDS patients stand to gain from the ACA

In addition to expanding Medicaid eligibility in some states, the Affordable Care Act will prevent insurance companies from denying coverage or charging higher rates for people with pre-existing conditions such as HIV and AIDS, and eliminates coverage caps. Despite concerns that the ACA might affect funding for programs such as the Ryan White and the AIDS Drug Resistance programs, organization leaders say the ACA will not replace but will instead help extend these programs' ability to provide comprehensive care for people with HIV and AIDS.
