Intel acknowledges iPhone failure, looks to refocus strategy

Before Apple launched the iPhone, Intel made the mistake of refusing to manufacture chips for the gadget. Intel is attempting to repair that mistake by making chips for Altera, perhaps as a test run for an expansion of the company's manufacturing base, Jean-Louis Gassée writes.
