Large screens are grabbing traction with smartphone users, report says

Smartphones touting bigger touch screens, those 5 inches or larger, are increasing in popularity, according to a Canalys report that reveals such devices accounted for 22% of global smartphone shipments, or 56 million. The trend has sparked a new buzzword, "phablets," as the handsets can offer tablet features. The report reveals a 44% increase in smartphone shipments in the third quarter compared to a year ago.
