Study links heart-healthy diet with longer, healthier life in women

Nutrition data on more than 10,000 women found that those who followed a heart-healthy diet pattern at midlife were 40% more likely than those who did not to live to age 70 or older, according to a study in the Annals of Internal Medicine. Researcher Cecilia Samieri, who did the study while at Harvard Medical School, said women who adhered to a Mediterranean-style diet had a better chance of being a "healthy ager" and living past 70 without developing chronic diseases.
