Testosterone therapy may put older men at risk for heart problems, even death

Researchers looked at data on 8,700 U.S. veterans with low testosterone levels and found that testosterone therapy was associated with a 30% higher risk of heart attack, stroke or death. The study failed to establish a causal relationship, but it should prompt providers to discuss the possible risks and benefits of testosterone use to their patients, the study's lead author Dr. Michael Ho said. The findings appear in the Journal of the American Medical Association.
