Bill would let FDA regulate OTC drug ads

The FDA would have the authority to regulate ads for over-the-counter drugs under the new "Non-Prescription Drug Modernization" bill. Sens. Henry Waxman, D-Calif., and Ted Kennedy, D-Mass., introduced the legislation weeks after an FDA panel recommended banning OTC cold and cough medicines for children younger than 6 because of concerns about safety and effectiveness.
