AHRQ picks 10 groups to begin gathering medical-error data

Ten patient-safety organizations have been chosen by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality to begin working with providers to collect and report information on medical errors. The PSOs will work under interim guidelines until HHS publishes a final rule to implement the Patient Safety and Quality Improvement Act of 2005. Groups collecting data under interim rules will have to ensure their activities are in compliance with final rule provisions once they are released.
